7 Day Ayers Rock and Return

Day One

We depart Adelaide at 7:00 am for Glendambo, travelling via Port Pirie, Port Germein and Port Augusta (the crossroads of Australia). At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centre’s Tunnel of Time. We discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement, and much more.

After lunch we head to Glendambo for our overnight stop.

Day Two

On this day we head to Coober Pedy, an opal wonderland in the heart of South Australia's vast outback. We spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres, which offer great insight into the town and it's mining operations. If you would like to purchase some opal, there are more than 30 opal shops to choose from in the town. Coober Pedy takes it's name from the Aboriginal word Kupa (meaning 'uninitiated man' or white man), and Piti (hole). We also visit the Breakaway's Reserve and Moon Plain.

We spend the night in an underground motel.

Day Three

We travel to Uluru/Ayers Rock along the Explorer Highway, passing through Kulgera and Erldundato. From Erldunda we follow the Lassetter Highway to Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park arriving just in time to see the magical sunset.

We camp overnight in Yalara.

Day Four and Day Five

We stay at Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park. You have the opportunity to appreciate the Aboriginal culture and environment on a 2 hour tour with an Aboriginal Guide.

Optional tours include a Harley Davidson Motorcycle tour of Uluru/Ayers Rock, or a helicopter flight over Uluru/Ayers Rock. These are at your own expense.

We camp at Yalara both nights.

Day Six

This morning after we break camp we follow the Lassiter Highway and Explorer Highway south to Coober Pedy spending the night in underground accommodation.

Day 7

After breakfast we head further south re-visiting Port Augusta before our return trip to your accommodation in Adelaide, where we will arrive at approximately 7:00 pm.
