10 Day Adelaide to Alice Springs tour (Optional Return)

Discover the vast Outback of South Australia, learn about Aboriginal culture, travel through unique and breathtaking scenery and experience life on an Outback Station.

Day One

We depart Adelaide at 7:00 am for Wilpena Pound Resort, travelling via Port Augusta where we visit Wadlata Outback Centre. After lunch we travel via Quorn and Hawker, and visit Kanyaka Ruins

Day Two

After breakfast we have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookout. We also visit Sacred Canyon and Brachina Gorge. We have lunch at Prairie Hotel, Parachilna. We then travel to Blinman via Parachilna Gorge.

Day Three

We travel the Moralana Scenic Route with views of Elder Range and Wilpena Pound. We enjoy morning tea at the Prairie Hotel.

Our next stop is Iga Warta where we spend some time learning about Aboriginal culture and environment.

Day Four

We travel to William Creek via the Oodnadatta Track. Our first stop is Lyndhurst where we visit the Ochre Cliffs. We stop for lunch at Marree and then we visit Bubbler Springs, Blanche Cup Springs and Coward Springs.

Day Five

On this day we head to Coober Pedy, an opal wonderland in the heart of South Australia's vast outback. We spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres, which offer great insight into the town and it's mining operations. If you would like to purchase some opal, there are more than 30 opal shops to choose from in the town. Coober Pedy takes it's name from the Aboriginal word Kupa (meaning 'uninitiated man' or white man), and Piti (hole). We also visit the Breakaway's Reserve and Moon Plain.

We spend the night in an underground motel.

Day Six

We travel to Uluru/Ayers Rock along the Explorer Highway, passing through Kulgera and Erldundato. From Erldunda we follow the Lassetter Highway to Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park arriving just in time to see the magical sunset.

Day Seven and Day Eight

We stay at Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park. You have the opportunity to appreciate the Aboriginal culture and environment on a 2 hour tour with an Aboriginal Guide.

Optional tours include a Harley Davidson Motorcycle tour of Uluru/Ayers Rock, or a helicopter flight over Uluru/Ayers Rock. These are at your own expense.

We camp at Yalara both nights.

Day Nine

After breakfast we head to Kings Canyon. A breath-taking walk around the rim of the canyon allows you to gaze down in awe at the sandstone chasm, which plunges 270 metres to the canyon floor. Otherwise, you can venture down into the chasm and discover luxuriant cycads around the permanent waterhole in the exotic Garden of Eden.

You can also discover traditional and contemporary Aboriginal Culture on a journey through an area of sacred caves and paintings, with Lilla Aboriginal Tours. Learn about traditional medicine and bush tucker and try your hand at spear, and boomerang throwing.

Day Ten

We travel to Alice Springs via the Explorer Highway and arrive at your accommodation at approximately 6.00 pm. There is a 2 day return trip to Adelaide at a minimal extra cost.

BOOKING CONDITIONS: A deposit of 20% is required to confirm your reservation. Balance is payable 21 days prior to departure.

CANCELLATIONS: Must be made 14 days prior to departure or full deposit is forfeited.
